Graveside services for Thelma Y'Barbo Evett, age 93, of San Augustine, were held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Attoyac Cemetery, located on FM 3316 in San Augustine County, with Bro. Tim Swanson officiating.

She passed from this life Saturday, March 30, 2024, in San Augustine, Texas.

She was born September 30, 1930, in Nacogdoches County, Texas, to parents Buren and Ila Y'Barbo. Mrs. Evett graduated from nursing school at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas, and worked in that field for several years, including a long stint in labor and delivery at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. She also worked in several other area hospitals and nursing homes during her career.

Mrs. Evett loved her family. In recent years, she had attended Attoyac Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa West of San Augustine; son, Kelvin Evett of Martinsville; grandchildren, Brandon West of San Augustine, Tyler West of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Taelor Evett and Austin Evett, both of Nacogdoches; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Bailee West of Biloxi, Mississippi; brothers, Charles Bryan Y' Barbo and wife Kathy of Houston and James Y'Barbo and wife Sandy of Martinsville; and nephews, Scott Y'Barbo of Sugar Land and John Y'Barbo of Martinsville.
