IDA BELL (THORNTON) BUTLER

Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Bell (Thornton) Butler, age 67, of San Augustine County, were held Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the Wyman Roberts Chapel with Bro. Robert Wall officiating. She passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, in Lufkin, Texas.

She was born June 28, 1956, in Center, Texas, to parents L.T. and Marie (White) Thornton. She enjoyed spending tim with her family and had been a longtime resident of San Augustine County. Ida was a beautician and worked for 47 years.

She was married to Cornell Butler, who preceded her in death on September 2, 2022.

Those left to cherish her memory includes her daughters, Amanda Smith and husband Shane of San Augustine, Texas, and Leah Holloway and husband Lucas of Broaddus, Texas; sisters, Sue Wall and husband Roberts of Newton, Texas, and Peggy Brown and husband Jerry of Chireno, Texas; brothers, Ronald Thornton of Chireno, Texas, and Ray Thornton, Lynn Thornton, Tom Thornton, Hollis Thornton, and William "Bud" Thornton, all of San Augustine, Texas; sisters-in-law, Margo Noble, Linda Thornton, and Jean Thornton; brothers-in-law, Bonnell "Bud" Butler and wife Pat, Gene Butler and wife Doris; grandson, Lane Smith and wife Klarissa; granddaughters, Kelsea Smith and Cayce Mangan, Laila Holloway, and Lindsey Holloway; three great-grandchildren, Cort Lowe, Kolt Smith, and Koy Mangan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family suggests that memorials may be offered to the Macune Cemetery fund.
