Mrs. Lewis was born on April 8, 1943, in Patroon Community of Shelby County to Arbie Alex Flournoy and Zelma Viola Wilkinson Flournoy. She graduated from Center High School, Panola College, and Stephen F. Austin University with a Homemaking Degree. She taught homemaking classes at Apple Springs High School and Beckville High School until her oldest son was born. She helped with the local Weight Watchers programs, taught Bible classes and assisted with Vacation Bible Schools where she was a member of Highway Baptist Church in Huntington. Most of all Sarah loved with her whole heart, from cheering her boys (husband, sons, and grandsons) in whatever sports they were participating in, to decorating every inch of her house for Christmas for all her family to celebrate together.
