RAY GRIFFIN

Services for Ray Griffin, 77, of the Norwood Community, were held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 4839 FM 1992 in the Norwood community. He passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at his residence in San Augustine County, Texas.

He was born February 10, 1946, in Shelby County, Texas, to parents George Wesley and Eloise (Campbel) Griffin and had lived in San Augustine County for most of his life. Mr. Griffin worked in road construction for several years with various companies, including A.C. Brooks and Pinto Construction.

Ray loved riding horses. Through the years he had gone on many trail rides as well as participating in rodeos, riding bareback and broncs. He enjoyed other outdoor activities, such as hunting, fishing, and camping.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Eileen Rigsby of San Augustine; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Ray and Kimberly Griffin of San Augustine, Texas, Donald and Kellie Griffin of Hemphill, Texas, and Robert Paul and Carrie Griffin of Hemphill, Texas; his former wife, Carrie Jane Griffin of San Augustine, Texas; a brother, Bo Griffin of San Augustine, Texas; sisters, Barbara Cruse of Center, Texas, Betty Shull and husband George of Shelbyville, Texas, Beverly Hendricks of Center, Texas, and Brenda "Dolly" Adair of Huntington, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eloise and George Wesley Griffin; son, Jimmy Williams; granddaughter, Rhiannon Morgan; great-grandson, Wesley Ryder Griffin; and siblings, Johnny Griffin, Bernis Griffin, Billie Watson, Brooksie Tindol and Bobby Campbell Roberts.
