VIRGINIA NELL CASEY

Funeral services for Virginia Casey, 93, of Milam, will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas. She passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 at Hemphill Care Center in Hemphill, Texas.

Virginia was born in Beaumont, Texas on July 29, 1930 to her father, Fredrick Newell Golden, an oilfield worker and her mother, Doris Valerie Henderson, a restaurant cook and later shipyard welder during WWII. Much of her life, she lived in Orange, Texas with her maternal grandparents and was introduced to the Seventh Day Adventist church by her grandmother.

After WW2 at age 16, she married war veteran, Jessie T. Casey and raised three sons, Allen, Lane and Evan Casey.

Virginia graduated with honors from Lamar University with a degree in Elementary Education and taught 4th grade in Orange, Texas. After retirement, JT and Virginia moved to Milam where she resided until her death of natural causes.

She lived a long and happy life and was respected and loved by her friends and family.

Burial will be held Friday, August 11, 2023 in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034.
