MATTHEW SCOTT BRIDGES

Funeral Services for Matthew Scott Bridges, 40, of San Augustine were held at 12:00 noon Saturday, August 19, 2023, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel located at 316 West Columbia Street in San Augustine. Charles Sharp officiated. Interment was held in the Liberty Hill Memorial Garden in San Augustine County, Texas.

He passed from this life on Sunday, August 13, 2023, in Houston.

A 2001 graduate of San Augustine High School, Scott was born August 30, 1982, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to parents Mike Bridges and Becky Hunter. After graduation, he attended Texas A & M University obtaining his heavy equipment certification. He was a talented bull dozer operator and was self-employed. He was a kind, generous, and fun loving guy to all that knew him. His children were his pride and joy.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 14 years, Kristin Bridges of Lufkin; his children, Lane Bridges and Reese Bridges; his parents, Becky Hunter of San Augustine, and Mike Bridges and Sharon of San Augustine; his brothers, Shane Bridges and wife Elise, and their children, Everett, Edwin and Emmett; Jeremy Bridges and wife Brittany and their children, Colt and Lexi; aunts and uncles, Cissi and Lee Smith, Debbie and Mike Jackson, Lisa and Scott Ainsworth; sisters-in-law, Tamesha Hendry, and Ashley Landry and children, Cason, Cameron, and Allie; brothers-in-law, Jerry Mack Hardy and Brian Landry.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Therman and Virginia Bridges; Tommy and Lattie Hunter; parents-in-law, Dennis and Michele Hendry.

Pallbearers were Tyler Jackson, Kyle Lake, Tydrick "Tadpole" Davis, Gil Miller, Justin Klein, and Corey Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be Kate Davis and Charlie Ramsey.

Visitation was Saturday, August 19, 2023, from the hours of 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
