ROBERT JOSEPH WELLS

Robert Joseph Wells, 71, of Hemphill, Texas passed away peacefully Thursday, August 17, 2023 at his home with his wife by his side.

Robert was born May 27, 1952 in Rome, New York to Murrie Dale Wells and Mary Ellen Paumier Wells. He had earned his associate's degree and served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He later went on to work as a Police Officer in Orange, Texas for many years before retiring and moving closer to Toledo Bend Reservoir to pursue his love of fishing. After moving to Sabine County, he came out of retirement to serve as manager of South Sabine Water Supply for several years.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved playing with his support dog, Oscar, and giving his cat, Ticci, rides on his walker. His greatest joy was being able to pin the E7 Rank on his youngest son.

Robert is survived by his wife, Jodie Wells of Hemphill; sons, Danny Wells and wife, Nichole, of Ft. Johnson (Ft. Polk), Louisiana and Jacob Rougeaux of Orange; brothers, Bill Wells of Diamondhead, Arkansas and Jim Wells of Hemphill; and six grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home.
