Amy was born April 23, 1959 in Granite City, Illinois to Ernest Archie Cochran and Anna Lee Futrell Cochran. She was a graduate of Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Illinois. After graduation, she moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank. She later moved back to Illinois where she studied at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.

After receiving her degree, she was offered a job with Texas Instruments in Plano, Texas. There, not only did she excel in a career that she loved and was proud of, she also met Floyd Carr, who she would later marry in a beautiful Hawaiian ceremony in May of 1994.
After many years with Texas Instruments, she was hired as a consultant for Johnson & Johnson rewriting code for their extensive program before retiring.

Amy and Floyd moved from Plano to Milam, Texas in 2010 and she became a member of First Baptist Church in Hemphill, Texas. Living on Toledo Bend Lake, Amy was able to fully indulge in her love of music, of which she was a classical pianist, and in her talent of art. She decorated their home with many of her beautiful paintings.

Amy is survived by her mother, Anna Lee Cochran of Collinsville, IL; her husband of 29 years, Floyd Carr of Milam; brother, James Cochran and wife, Cheryl, of Collinsville; sister, Beth Nelson and husband, David, of Morganton, NC; her aunt, Karen Cochran of Granite City, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
