JOSEPH WESLEY “JOEY” SMITH

Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Wesley "Joey" Smith, 42, of Chireno, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Chireno Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Belgard officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at the Lower Chireno Cemetery. He passed away Friday, September 8, 2023, in Lufkin, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Chireno Baptist Church, located at 141 New Camp Road off FM 95 in Chireno, Texas.

He was born June 20, 1981, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to parents Oswell and Dawn (Byrd) Smith. He was a member of Chireno Baptist Church along with the Chireno Volunteer Fire Department. Joey had worked several years in the electrical field and was a journeyman.

His survivors include his wife, Tasha Smith of Chireno; son, Hayden Smith and fiance Whitney of Chireno; son, Brayden Smith of Chireno; daughter, Camdyn Smith of Chireno; a grandchild, Baylor Smith of Chireno; his parents, Oswell and Dawn Smith of Chireno; a brother, Matthew Smith and wife Rachel of Chireno; and nieces and nephews, Owen Smith, Alexis Moore, and Karter Moore.
