Elwin Watson

A Celebration of Elwin Watson’s Life, age 81, of Jasper, Texas, was held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Jasper, Texas with burial at Townsend Cemetery near Broaddus, Texas.

Elwin died on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

Elwin was a native of San Augustine County and a resident of Jasper, Texas since 1968. He was a 1961 graduate of Broaddus High School, Broaddus, Texas and a 1968 graduate of Stephen F. Austin University where he received his Master’s Degree in Education. Elwin was employed by the Jasper Independent School District for over 35 years. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and enjoyed wood working, mechanics, hunting and fishing.

Elwin is survived by his wife of fifty nine years, Judy Watson of Jasper, Texas; sons, Mark Aldwyn Watson and wife Lori of Georgetown, Texas and Jody LeWyn Watson and wife Rita of Whitehouse, Texas; sister-in-law, Elsie Watson of Norwood, Texas; grandchildren, Colby Watson, Brandon Watson, Logan Watson, Asher Williams and wife Sydney, Morgan Olivarez, Luke Olivarez, Gabe Watson, Gabby Walford Glenn and husband Dominic, Kendra Walford, Chelsea Walford, Hayes Nisbet, and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burnard and Ostillie Watson; daughter, Larisa Kay Watson and brother, Johnny Watson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church Youth Group, Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3196 US Hwy. 190 West, Jasper, Texas 75951.
