OLETA FAYE HELTON

Oleta Faye Helton, 87, of Hemphill, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Legacies Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hemphill.

Faye was born February 19, 1936 in Whitehouse to George Washington Horton and Annie Lee Williams Horton. She was a loving housewife and mother and a pastor's wife for many years. Having previously resided in Troup, Texas, she had lived in Hemphill for the past 10 years, and was a member of Camp Springs Baptist Church.

She had many interests, her favorite being gardening. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and fishing with her husband. She was a licensed HAM Radio operator and a member of both Hemphill and Lufkin clubs. She was a good mom and Nonni (grandmother), and she loved to cook.

She is survived by her daughter, Bethany Ann Helton Felts of Hemphill and grandson, Christopher Cody White and wife, Lacy.

Memorial services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.

She will later be buried beside her husband in Methodist Conference Cemetery in Palestine.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home, Hemphill.
